Nils Greenhow studied Composition at Birmingham Conservatoire before completing a degree in Music at the University of York, where he studied singing with Jason Darnell. Subsequently he was a choral scholar at St Martin-in-the-Fields.
Operatic credits include Jupiter Semele and Sailor Dido and Aeneas (Eboracum Baroque), Fred Pirates of Penzance (Simply Opera), Damon Acis and Galatea (Grimeborn Opera), Sam Dust Song (ADC Theatre Cambridge, world premiere), Luke Lost (Fitzwilliam Museum, world premiere), Max Der Freischütz and cover Tamino Die Zauberflöte (York University Opera Society) and Mr Erlanson A Little Night Music (Emmanuel College, Cambridge).
Concert performances include Bach Jesu Meine Freude (Mogens Dahl Kammerkor, Copenhagen), Bach Magnificat (Estonian Radio), Messiah, Mozart Requiem, Haydn Nelson Mass, Bach Christmas Oratorio, St John Passion, St Matthew Passion, B Minor Mass and Magnificat (St Martin-in-the-Fields), Charpentier Le Reniement de St. Pierre (St John's College, Cambridge), Handel Utrecht Te Deum (BBC Singers) as well as a tour of China as featured tenor soloist with York-based choir The 24.
As a choral singer, Nils has sung with a number of professional choirs across the UK and internationally. He is a member of Mogens Dahl Kammerkor in Copenhagen and St Martin's Voices in London. He is also part of the Philharmonia Chorus Professional Singers' Scheme and is a lay clerk at Southwark Cathedral. Previously he has held lay clerkships at Bristol Cathedral, St George's Cathedral Southwark, Chelmsford Cathedral and Clare College Cambridge and was a member of the choir of St Etheldreda's, Ely Place.
Nils is also active as one of London's most exciting emerging young composers. In 2017 he was appointed as Composing Fellow at St Martin-in-the-Fields and the choir has since performed his compositions as part of services and radio broadcasts.
